Lead Magnet Post Template

Offering a free resource on Reddit is one of the safest ways to generate leads — but only if the resource is genuinely valuable and you frame it correctly.

The Template

Title: I made a free [resource type] for [target audience] — [specific benefit, with number if possible]

---

[Context: what prompted you to make this — a recurring problem you saw, something you wished existed]

I made a [resource type] that [specific description of what's in it — not vague].

It covers / includes:
- [Specific thing 1]
- [Specific thing 2]
- [Specific thing 3]

[One sentence on who it's for and what they'll get out of it]

[Where to get it — link or "DM me" or "comment and I'll send it"]

No email required / [honest terms for access].

[Optional: 1 line about what you do, with no sales language]

Anyone working on [related topic] — also happy to answer questions in the comments.

When to Use This

Use when you have a genuinely useful resource: a spreadsheet template, a checklist, a list of resources, a script, a process doc. The resource must stand on its own — it shouldn't look like a lead capture disguised as a resource.

Best Subreddits

Tips for Success

  • 1The resource must be genuinely free and useful without requiring a sign-up when possible. The best lead magnet posts offer something without a catch.
  • 2Describe specific contents — "I made a list of 50 warm prospect signals to look for on Reddit" beats "I made a guide to Reddit marketing".
  • 3Saying "no email required" pre-empts the most common objection and drives significantly more engagement.
  • 4Check subreddit rules first. Many communities have "no self-promotion" rules that cover free resources too.

Filled-In Example

Title: I made a free spreadsheet with 200 subreddits sorted by niche, subscriber count, and post acceptance rate

I've been tracking which subreddits actually let you post about your product vs. which ones immediately remove you. After 6 months of testing across different niches, I put everything in a spreadsheet.

It includes:
- 200+ subreddits across 12 niches (SaaS, ecommerce, crypto, fintech, edtech, etc.)
- Subscriber count and weekly post volume
- Whether self-promotion is allowed (and what the rules actually say)
- Average post acceptance rate based on my own testing

It's just a Google Sheet — no email, no signup. Link in the comments.

I'm building a Reddit marketing tool which is why I needed all this data. But the spreadsheet is useful regardless of that.

If you've found subreddits that work well for your niche that aren't obvious, drop them below — happy to add them in.
